The SCI FI Channel and MGM have decided to cancel Stargate Atlantis after its fifth season ends. The show will however continue on with a 2 hour movie that will air on the SCI FI channel in 2009 in the United States and with other global airing’s later on in the year.

The film will still be written by the shows executive producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mulliie. It is intended to be the first of an on-going series of movie releases for Atlantis, according to the report.

  1. This really SUCKS big time. MGM & SCI-FI you are absolute idiots. It was bad enough when they cancelled SG-1 now Atlantis. We don’t want a movie every 12 months or so we want our regular series. listen to the fans.

  2. mgm and sci-fi are you brain dead? a show thats a hit you decide to cancel whats wrong with you keep the show going and keep the fans happy (or the lion gets it)
