Stargate Atlantis has beaten off some stiff competition to pick up, its first win in the 34th annual awards, voted on by viewers. The show has gone up against some long running genre favourites such as: Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, and more.
“MGM and the Stargate Atlantis cast and crew are honoured to be nominated for this prestigious People’s Choice award,” MGM Senior Executive Vice President Charles E. Cohen said of the show’s nomination, in November. “With the series confirmed to return for a fifth season on SCI FI, two Stargate movies for release next year, and a Stargate online role playing game currently in development, the franchise continues to be a timeless force.”
The cast of Atlantis accepted the award in a pre-taped segment, which aired tonight on CBS hosted by Queen Latifah.
