Robert Carlyle has signed up to take the lead in the up and coming third instalment in the Stargate franchise, Stargate Universe.
Carlyle will be following in the footsteps of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and the short-lived animated series Stargate Infinity. Stargate Universe will see Carlyle as Dr David Rush, one of a number of survivors who pile through the nearest Stargate when their secret base is attacked. Finding themselves on an ancient star ship left adrift in space, they must unlock the ship’s mysteries in order to find a way home.
Stargate Universe is set to debut as a two-hour movie special on the Sci Fi Channel next summer before it’s regularly cast as an ongoing television series.
