Stargate’s new line of officially licensed Funko Pop! figures is expanding, with two members of the SG-1 team now up for pre-order. Colonel Samantha Carter and Teal’c are due out next month.
The figures can be pre-ordered today at Amazon.com and Entertainment Earth. They have also been added to Funko’s own Web site, though orders are not available there yet.
As with the last round of Stargate Pops, Amazon has these listed for $1 more ($12.99 over $11.99) but will ship for free with a Prime subscription. Sam and Teal’c are slated for a January 18 release, and after we placed our pre-order they were showing an estimated delivery of January 20.
Teal’c stands about 3.8 inches tall, while (curiously) Carter is listed as a hair over 4 inches — probably thanks to her amazing hairstyle, which screams “Yeah, that’s definitely Samantha Carter!” Both are in their familiar black and green gear, with a zat gun molded to their right legs.
The two new figures join the debut line of Jack O’Neill, Daniel Jackson, Ra, and the Anubis and Horus Guards from the Stargate feature film. These were released last summer, and as of this writing several of them are on sale for $7.99 at Amazon — an easy pick-up for the Stargate fan in your life this Christmas.
We’re hoping that this is just the start for Funko’s Stargate license. Not only is the franchise full of great characters worthy of the Pop treatment (just think of the System Lords!), but now with the release of Sam and Teal’c fans are very much in need of proper SG-1 versions of Jack O’Neill and Daniel Jackson. The first releases are clearly styled after the movie versions of these characters, which are visually distinct from the roles played on television by Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks.
