Lou Diamond Phillips Places A Bet For Cancer Charity

FILM star Lou Diamond Phillips placed a £10 charity bet for the Teenage Cancer Trust at a Bournemouth betting shop.

The 47-year-old star of La Bamba and the Young Guns is here for this weekend’s Science Fiction Ball at the Carrington House Hotel in Knyveton Road, Boscombe.

He plays Colonel David Telford in the TV show Stargate Universe and will be signing autographs and taking part in a question and answer session.

Phillips, a keen poker player, backed Festival Dreams in the 3.10pm at Kempton.

He liked the name because he hopes his most recent film will do well on the film festival circuit.

Sadly, the 12-1 each way bet did not pay off, and the horse came in eighth from the field of 17, well behind the winner Lady Bling Bling and runner up Bobble Hat Bob.

The SF Ball is a not for profit organisation and is this year supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust
