It has been confirmed that Jason Momoa who plays Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis, will definitely be losing his dread locks later in season five. Whether this will still take place early on in the show, and how this will take place has still to be confirmed
We can only speculate that some sort of capture will result in them being cut off, as a method of torture for the character.
