General George Hammond, played by actor Don S Davis, revealed in an interview with Sky One that he took the part in Stargate because of Jack O’Neil actor Richard Dean Anderson. “There’s a loyalty that goes back and forth between us and in my opinion, he has more honour, loyalty and integrity than almost anybody I’ve met in this business. That’s why there’s people working on this show that have worked on it for nearly 20 years. He’s a good guy to be around.”
also in the Sky One interview, Don reasoned that the most feared enemy in Stargate were the government figures who appeared with their own agendas and methods of seeing them through. Don feels that Hammond’s time is coming to an end, but gives credit to Anderson for Stargate going this far. As to whether there will be a series 8 with a General G. Hammond in it, it’s not looking likely.
