Chris Judge Watches Himself Breaking Character

Christopher Judge filming "Wormhole X-Treme!"

Filming on Stargate SG-1 was a hoot by every account, and despite playing the show’s most serious and stoic character Christopher Judge was usually the first to crack a joke or break out laughing. Teal’c is known for his stone-faced expressions and deadpan reactions to Colonel O’Neill’s jokes. But Judge? Just the opposite.

Now, more than 15 years after the show ended, “Dial the Gate” is putting the actor in the hot seat to watch his own outtakes! These behind-the-scenes clips come from Chris’s coverage in the fan-favorite episodes “Window of Opportunity” and “Wormhole X-Treme!” A very special thanks to series writer and executive producer Joseph Mallozzi for providing the outtakes.

“Once you break it’s hard to pull it back in,” Judge said of the cast’s hours of laughing on set. “So we always prided ourselves on being able to get other people to break. So there were a lot of times where directors would be really angry! Because it was them that had to get their days, and we’re just having a grand old time.”

Take a look at a clip from this very special trip down memory lane:

In addition to watching himself break on camera Chris talks with host David Read and special guest Jenny Stiven about the atmosphere on the set of SG-1, supporting each other during tough scenes, and also having a lot of fun together.

“A lot of our guest stars were kind of thrown by how loose our set was,” he said. “But the thing is, when it was time to do a serious scene we would all respect that. We would respect each other needing to be in a certain place to do a scene that was emotional. But if not … hoo-boy!
