STARGATE UNIVERSE — Season 2 Premieres Tuesday, September 28, at 9PM (NEW NIGHT) —
Stargate Universe returns with 20 all-new episodes for season two. SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack.
The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. In the new season, the team fights to take back the ship from the Lucian Alliance, who transported themselves on board Destiny with plans to take control. The team also discovers their true mission. It’s not about going home, it’s about going further.
Season two guest stars include Robert Knepper (Heroes, Prison Break) and Julie McNiven (Supernatural, Mad Men) for a multi-episode arc in which they portray members of the Lucian Alliance. Also, series star Robert Carlyle makes his directorial debut in episode 4, Pathogen. Robert Cooper and Brad Wright, of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, serve as executive producers and writers. SGU is produced and distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution.
Stargate Universe co-creator Robert C. Cooper has revealed that he knows how the Syfy drama will end.
He told Collider that he has a plan for how the show might eventually conclude, but admitted that he is still uncertain what will happen in future episodes.
“[I know] why the Ancients sent the ship out there and where we could end the series [in the future],” he said. “[But] do I know what episode 3 of season 3 is? No.”
Cooper explained that he is keen to avoid long-term plans in order to allow the show to develop and change.
“I think that [our] philosophy has been to create a world. You build a world and you build characters that exist in that world,” he said. “We know where we’re going to a certain extent, but we also want to respond to what that world and those characters are telling us. Why would you turn away from a wonderful opportunity that is [presenting itself]?”
The second season of Stargate Universe begins on September 28 on the Syfy network.
Stargate Universe star Robert Carlyle has revealed details of the show’s forthcoming second season.
The actor has recently been quoted as say Dr Nicholas Rush would continue to scheme and keep secrets from the rest of the crew.
“Rush is still at it in the second season, but even more so this time.” he said.
The first season saw the show’s characters trapped aboard the Destiny, an Ancient starship that they were unable to control. Carlyle confirmed that Rush will find the bridge of the Destiny early in the new season and will begin piloting the ship.
“Not only has he discovered the bridge, but he knows how to fly the thing,” he explained. “He’s steering it around. [But the other characters] don’t know that.”
Carlyle revealed that the crew of the Destiny will discover the truth in the seventh episode of the season.
“Rush and Young (Louis Ferreira) go investigate an abandoned alien craft which is just outside the Destiny,” he said. “When they’re over there, it hits the fan back on [the Destiny]. They find the bridge. They find Rush is responsible for all this stuff.”
Carlyle recently confirmed that he is keen to remain on the show in the future.
