Dynamite Entertainment is set to release a new comic series about the sexiest and funniest star of the Stargate franchise Vala Mal Doran who was played by the multi talented actress Claudia Black.
There will be an introduction by Claudia as well, so we will have another opportunity to see Claudia Black involved in comics after the successful return of Aeryn and Crichton in the comic series developed by Boom! studios last year.
This comic is written by Brandon Jerwa and Cezar Rezak and the story is about the years when Vala was acting as a free agent in the intergalactic underworld. While the ever-growing Lucian Alliance attempts to recruit her, Vala puts together an Ocean’s Eleven-style team of freelancers (though her team numbers around 5 people) to help her track down a mysterious sentient plant believed to be a source of great power.
The cover is still a mystery that Dynamite is going to clear up soon.
The comic will be released in UK in May but you can preorder it for £2.65 at the official Forbidden Planet store.

The winners of the 2009 Constellation Awards, honouring the actors and producers behind Canada’s favourite science fiction TV series and movies, were announced this weekend at ceremonies held at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel.
Stargate SG1 actress Claudia Black accepted her trophy for ‘Best Female Performance in a 2008 Science Fiction Film” for her role in “Stargate: Continuum”. “To all who voted, I would like to say thank you very much,” she noted, acknowledging that all award winners were selected by popular vote.
The Stargate Franchise also picked up the most prestigious award of the night, “Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2008″ which was accepted by Canadian actors David and Kate Hewlett from “Stargate Atlantis”.

Ladies man Joe Flanigan has signed aboard two of Creation Entertainment’s Official STARGATE SG-1 / ATLANTIS / UNIVERSE Conventions coming to LOS ANGELES on NOVEMBER 6th to the 8th, 2009 and to VANCOUVER on APRIL 15th to the 18th, 2010.
Both of these conventions are going to be a big hit and action packed events with a wonderful guest line-up including Ben Browder, Michael Shanks, Paul McGillion, Cliff Simon, Ray Robbins and Robert Picardo.
Stargate’s Claudia Black will also be at the annual convention, heading up the official Farscape gathering.
