Is It All Over For Stargate Atlantis And SG1 Fans

With the recent announcement from Robert C Cooper regarding the current fate of Stargate Extinction and the still untitled third SG1 movie we can only assume that the studios have no plans on delivering either films to eager fans.

Whilst this announcement does help to provide an insight as to what is actually going on behind closed doors in the decision making department, it doesn’t really provide much help or even a small light beam of hope.

We can only assume this announcement is intended as a prior warning shot that neither films will happen and the studios have blown what little budget could of remained on the upcoming Stargate Universe production.

It will be interesting to see how fans react to such news, along with ratings when universe officially begins airing globally from October 2nd 2009.

The Financial Implications Of Stargate Universe

Published by Stargate Archive Team under Editorial

With the announcement that Stargate Atlantis was to be cancelled after its fifth season run in favour of straight to DVD releases, which has been sighted due to financial costs we can only wonder if Atlantis was cancelled in favour of pushing Stargate Universe.

As many official news sources have been quoted as saying the show was cancelled due to financial costs, we can only wonder what the current costs involved are for developing Stargate Universe from scratch, the sets, the production time and the hiring of new talent on both the writing team and the production side of the show.

Would these associated costs of been better spent producing a sixth season of Stargate Atlantis?

The Rise In Illegal File Sharing Of Stargate Atlantis Episodes

Published by Stargate Archive Team under Editorial

Many fans will know that Stargate Atlantis was cancelled a few months ago with the show ending with its momentous 100th episode at the end of its current fifth season.

Fans around the world have been left feeling outraged that such a popular Sci Fi classic has been cancelled the official reasons behind the shows cancelation are increasing operating costs.

However interesting new news has come to light regarding the popularity of Stargate Atlantis among illegal file sharers.

Stargate Atlantis ranked in 6th place for the most illegally downloaded television show during the course of 2008. More people downloaded the show from illegal sources than watched it on American television and other television channels globally.

Complaints have arisen from New Zealand, European and even Canadian television studios regarding the long wait between shows airing in the United States and then making their way globally to various regions.

This trend has led to the inevitable rise in illegal downloads by loyal fans wanting to know what is happening now instead of waiting several months before the episode airs in their regions.
